Economic Development Vision & Plan

Process & Timeline

• SEDCO and the Scarborough Community Chamber (SCC) have been working on a long-term economic development Vision & Plan for Scarborough for the past year and a half. 

• Business and key stakeholder input was sought back in March 2009 and a DRAFT document was distributed to key stakeholders and the public this fall for comment.

• Public Comment Sessions were held at Town Hall on Monday, November 16, 2009 from 8:00am-10:00am and on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 from 6:30pm-8:30pm.

• The SEDCO and SCC Boards both voted to support the DRAFT Vision and the process and their joint letter of support may be viewed here.

• The business focus groups and 1-on-1 meeting comments from Spring 2009 may be viewed here.

• We completed the final Vision document in December 2009, integrating all the public comments we have received into the final version.

• A Vision presentation to the Town Council on this final Vision document was made on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at 7:00pm.

• A newspaper article about the December 16, 2009 Vision presentation to the Town Council may be viewed here.

• The implementation planning portion of the Vision process began in January 2010.

• Volunteers interested in assisting with the implementation portion of the Vision process are welcome to be a part of the process by e-mailing us about your interest to: VisionComments@maine.rr.com.

• The 2010 Vision implementation meetings will be held on the first Thursday of each month at 8:30am in Council Chambers at Town Hall.  All are welcome to attend.

• Implementation Strategies for Vision Statements 1 & 2 are now complete.  They may be found here.

• A recent e-newsletter on the Vision and its recent progress may be viewed here.

• Implementation Strategies for the remaining Vision Statements will be worked on beginning at our September 2, 2010 meeting.
