What SEDCO Does/Offers

SITE LOCATION: The Corporation maintains an up-to-date
inventory of available space for lease and land/buildings for sale. Often
our only contact with companies begins and ends with providing information
on space the meets their needs. And, at times SEDCO's involvement goes
even further, the Corporation's staff helps evaluate and determine the
type and size of space appropriate for a user.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: SEDCO's staff continually updates
its resource of financial programs available from federal and state government
sources, as well as both non-profit and for-profit institutions. Introductions
to appropriate personnel at commercial lenders is available to those new
to the area.
DEMOGRAPHIC & OTHER ECONOMIC STUDIES: Often established
companies as well as start-ups require detailed demographics and other
information to assist in decision making and attracting financing. SEDCO
gathers appropriate information for these companies and offers assistance
in accessing this information. SEDCO often can use its ever expanding
network to assist businesses in developing cooperative ventures with other
companies throughout Maine.
PROMOTION OF SCARBOROUGH BUSINESSES: The Corporation
maintains up-to-date lists of Scarborough businesses available to those
who wish to increase their access and exposure with other Scarborough
businesses. Currently over 1,000 businesses are listed in the directory.
LIAISON WITH TOWN OFFICES: Neither being employed by
the business developer nor being a Town Department, gives the Corporation
a unique position in assisting the Town and the business developer in
forming a cooperative approach to permitting and regulatory issues. This
often results in a far less bureaucratic approach to doing business with
Scarborough. Being able to promote the best interest of all parties without
monetary incentives or regulatory responsibilities is unique to Scarborough.
